Charity run

Last Saturday I took part in the 5km Morun charity race. This was a great experience as it allowed me to break a generally less active schedule and go outside as well as participate in events for charity. I managed to complete the run in 31 minutes and 16 seconds which I feel is fairly good seeing as I don't exercise often. As this was for charity, doing this raised awareness as well as raised money for the cause as some of my family decided to donate to the cause after seeing that I had run the whole distance. Doing the run was very enjoyable and also shows to employers that I am willing to do selfless tasks and have determination when faced with difficult challenges and things that I may not be used to or have practised for in comparison to a majority of other people who also joined in the charity run.

Voluntary Work

I have been doing voluntary work at an artisan store within my town. I have been doing this for around a year. This shows that I have a strong dedication to doing various jobs and tasks without the need of any third party motivation and to work towards a goal that is entirely centred on the progression and success of the place I was working at. I worked at the register which requires fast thinking for anyone who may ask questions for either finding things or general information about the town, store and the surrounding area. Working at the till also means that I had to be good at handling money and be able to do mental maths quickly and without mistake.

Learning 3D

I have recently decided upon myself to start to learn how to 3D model on a computer. I feel that this would be very useful for the career path that I want to take related to games design. I also feel as though I can dedicate myself to learning the programs and eventually producing things that would be of decent quality in time. I am very fascinated in learning 3D modelling as I have a large interest in fantasy designs and art and so learning this would make me able to express this love that I have for the fantasy genre and show off a creative spark and twist on designs as well as find various concepts online that I can work off and create. Learning and understanding this will be very useful if I want to obtain a career in games design as if I get good at designing to the point where I can produce very high quality models, I can put these inside of a portfolio of sorts and request a job in a company that has a job open for modellers.

D&D Adventure

Recently, I had decided to become the Dungeon Master within a game of Dungeons and Dragons. This involves me having to create/understand an entire fantasy universe, showing that I have creative thinking skills through creating an entire story for a world that doesn't exist. It also shows that I need to have decent time management and punctuality through planning out an entire adventure for other people to be able to play and enjoy before a certain time limit. This task has been going fairly well as I have a fun and interesting plot designed for the adventure and I am already designing interactive things for the people who I will be playing with to be challenged and immersed within the D&D game when it is played. Designing this also shows that I can work with a team effectively as when playing Dungeons and Dragons, you are generally with a party, having to make smart and important calls which may change the pace/direction of the entire game, so working together is very importan...

Game Community

This week I decided to start a community within an MMORPG game I frequently play. I have achieved this through starting a guild, beginning with friends and opening up to other players on the same server that I am in. This helps me as it involves planning skills to create and schedule events within the guild as well as being active and talking to other members within the guild that I have created. Being the guild leader also requires that I have to be able to work efficiently in a team, improving skills of being a team leader as well as working well as a team. I am known in my guild to be helpful to other players, be forgiving over potential mistakes as well as have a very large patience if anything may go wrong within the guild. Being the guild leader also allows me to help out other players who may be less better off than I am within the game, so I approach this as a chance to help them catch up by doing various things to help them get to a level and quality of gear/items that is acc...

Presentation Completion

I recently had presented my presentation within my Unit 1 - Communication skills & Employability. I had to do this in front of the rest of the people within the my college course. I feel as though this went well as I was able to perform my presentation fairly confidently and managed to project my voice semi-decently to the rest of the students in my unit. I could have improved on the projection of my voice during the presentation as at some points I don't think it could be heard too well by the people at the back of the classroom. I also feel as though my confidence could be improved on a little more, but overall the progress being made and the task I performed went fairly well and I am looking forward to making further progress on improving my skills for the future.
